Goji berry is the dry matured fruit of Lycium barbarum, a member of Solananceae family, and normally grows in wild field, sunny corner of plant field. Main producing area in China are Ningxia, Gansu, Qinghai, Neimeng, Xinjiang provinces which have sunny days all the year round. Traditional lyceum is first mentioned in the Divine Husgan***n¡¯s Classic (Shen¡¯nong Bencaongjing). Both the berries and the leaves have a wide range of medicinal uses. Ancient people used goji berry to make tea, soup, stew and wine or chewed them like raisins. Modern scientific research substantiated the ancient medical applications, such as: immune enhancing, healthy cell growth, cognition enhancing, kidney tonic, hepatic, vulnerary, promote red-blood-cell regeneration, ophthalmic, support healthy cholesterol, etc. Goji berry polysaccharides are the main active ingredients.
